1920's Great Gatsby Inspired Makeup

The roaring '20's.
"A little party never killed nobody"
A good friend of mine got married in August and she had a 1920's theme wedding.
First of all it was an incredibly fun idea and everyone got into the spirit.
The bride was absolutely beautiful and it was a wonderful time.

Of course me being me, I was very excited to put together a makeup look from the 1920's.
I did a bit of research on what the mainstream looks were back then.
Dark, rounded "sad eyes" that went well up through the crease of the eye.
Heart shaped lips; only filling in the center with color.
Softly sculpted cheeks and strong brows
So I put together a little kit seen above.

My flapper dress was from Amazon and was pretty reasonably priced.
You can find it if you click here

My sister did my hair and she did a fabulous job!
Headpiece also from Amazon here

And what's a flapper without pearls?
These plastic one were around $4 on Amazon here

The makeup was a lot of fun to do, a lot of black eyeshadow.

My sister and I even won the costume contest :)

My video cut out before I got to mention these guys.
City Color's HD Powder is the most amazing setting powder I've ever used!
And Urban Decay's setting spray really works.
I'm not a believer in setting sprays, they never seem to work.
But I got a sample of this one and decided to try it.
My makeup lasted ALL day & night!
Through dancing and the outdoors it didn't move.

Here's what it looked like at the end of the night:

Almost exactly the same as when it was first applied.
I've used this spray since at a picnic on a 95 degree, humid day and my makeup still stayed perfect!

The video:

Our wonderful friends had a beautiful day and gave us
all a wedding to remember for years to come :)
Congrats Michele and Nick!

Pretty Little Liars Alison DiLaurentis Prom Makeup Tutorial

I am a big Pretty Little Liars fan and last week's episode had me on the edge of my seat.
I have so many questions. Is ChArles A? Is Rhys ChArles? Who is Red CoAt?
Will they reAlly let us come FAce to FAce with A?
We'll have to see on Tuesday.

But I was also in love with Ali's makeup at prom

Yes, I took this picture while watching the show. Maybe I'm A?

Not too many products needed.

Here's the video:

Tell me your reaction in the comments after the show :)

Fairy/Pixie Makeup

I filmed this video back in February but just recently had time to edit it.
It was a busy semester.

It's a little over the top but fun

I should have colored my lips with concealer first to get rid of the pink.

The first video I shot of this makeup got completely erased on my camera.
I still don't know what happened.
So I took off all the makeup and did it again, that's dedication my friends :)

The glitter did get everywhere and I probably ingested some...

...But it was for the love of makeup so it was worth it

Here's the video:

Hope you enjoy it :)

Captain America Makeup/Costume

My sister is very much into anime and goes to conventions often.
She has tried to convince me to go to one for years with no success.
But apparently persistence pays off because last weekend I found myself at one of these cons.
I would call it 'Brittney in Anime Land'.

My "Costume"

Some people went all out with their costumes, I had neither the time or money to do so.
Since I know nothing about anime I decided to go as my favorite comic book hero:
 Captain America!

The Shield was from Toys 'R' Us
Boots are Brash from Payless
Tee Shirt from JC Penney's
Hat (ended up not wearing it) K-Mart
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Electric Blue
NYX Primal Colors Pressed Pigments in Hot Red
(Not Pictured: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Polyester Bride,
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara
and ELF Lip Stain in Red Carpet)

Makeup Close up

Whole Outfit

So this was my make shift costume.
A lot of people mistook me for Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy, but I didn't mind.

And what would the day be without some Tonight Show Dough ice cream by Jimmy Fallon.

I couldn't resist using the comic theme in my editor.

So all in all it wasn't a terrible day.
I got to be my favorite superhero, however I find it more fulfilling when Chris Evans is the Cap.

Thanks for reading my Adventures in Anime Land :)

L.A. Colors Cosmetics Review & Swatches

$2.99 for a makeup kit? It's either too good to be true or the product is junk right?
Usually, yes but L.A. Colors have amazing products for such a reasonable price.

I did a few swatches.

Lipstick:

A nice soft pink color with a slight vanilla scent.
This color lasted for quite a while, I'd say a good six hours.
Even through eating it stayed on really well.

Lip Gloss:

A sheer frosty pink gloss. It has a bubble gum scent.
On its own it gives a subtle touch of color.
Or layer it over the lipstick for a bright, frosty shine.

Eyeshadow Duo:

Really strong pigment in these shadows.
These two colors are perfect for a smokey eye look.

Lashes & Eyeliner:

The lashes are very natural looking.
I like the thin band, it makes them much more comfortable.
I used them in my Pretty Little Liars: Aria look.
If you missed it you can see
the blog post here and the video here

Eyeliner is your typical black crayon liner.
Lasts long and didn't smudge.

The products minus the lashes.
Apparently I forgot to clean up the fallout from the charcoal color.
Yes, there is fallout but it is easy to fix, if you remember :)

Super pleased with these products. They have a bunch more.
Check out their website: www.lacolors.com

Quick Review: Hey Honey's Take It Off Exfoliating Honey Mask

Just a little review on this awesome skin care product.

I'm not usually a big fan of exfoliating peels or masks.
But this one is amazing!
It's clear gel was actually fun to apply and it felt nice on my skin.

Although it has Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) it didn't burn or irritate my skin
like similar products have in the past.
It's so easy to use. Just follow the simple directions and you're done.

The result: my skin looked and felt smoother.

Super impressed with the mask and I'm seriously considering trying their acne products.

Check them out at www.heyhoney.com

Thanks for reading my quick Sunday night review

School/Everday Makeup

Sorry there has been such a gap in my posts.
Final semester is rough.

In case you missed last week's video of my school makeup, here it is:

It may seem like a lot of products but it really takes no time at all.
And this makeup lasts for a full day of classes (9-10 hours for me)

Clearly I was having too much fun with filters here.

Thanks for reading, check out the video.
I have a new tutorial coming up that is full of color and fun so stay tuned.

Taylor Swift "Blank Space" Inspired Makeup

Sorry for the lack of posts/videos lately. College started up again and has been eating up my time.
I plan to vlog about the first two weeks back, so if you like rants stay tuned.

Taylor Swift's video for Blank Space is quite entertaining.
From destroying a vintage to cutting patterns out of her boyfriends shirts it's a crowd pleaser.
Of course I was most interested in the makeup; winged out shadow and eyeliner, bright red lips.

Not an exact replica but it sure was fun.

Thanks for reading :)
