ipsy | May 2019 | Review

Already through the month of May? Where has the year gone? 🗓
Regardless of the time warp I seem to find myself in ⏳; here are the products I received in my ipsy May glam bag, and which ones are worth purchasing.

Definitely some nice products in May's bag, not all my taste, but still nice.

You can watch my quick video review of May's products here

Quick Stats:

Number of Product I'll Use Regularly: 2

My Overall Star Rating for May's Glam Bag: ⭐⭐⭐⭑⭑ (3 out of 5)

Thoughts on May's Glam Bag: A couple of wonderful products (the mascara I wanted to try!) and a few "okay" products as well.

May's bag was crazy pretty, glittery, sparkly (I'm a sucker for sparkles ✨). I definitely will carry this one around. I want a nail polish in this color.

On to May's beauty products 👌

1. INMO: Velveteen Dream Eyeshadow in Super Bass

Brand: INMO Cosmetics
Product: Eyeshadow
Name of Shade: Super Bass
Color: Lilac/Mauve
Finish: Shimmer/ Velvet
Formula: Pressed Powder
Fallout: No
Blendable: Yes
Chalky/Flaky: No/No
Lasts for: 10+ Hours

Pros: This brand is totally new to me, but based on this shadow alone, I'm a fan!
INMO is an acronym for "I'm Not Missing Out" and trust me you don't want to "miss out" on this shadow.
This eyeshadow glides on silky smooth and blends like a dream.
The shade is a beautiful mauve-y lilac that is universally flattering.
It has excellent staying power to last all day and is highly pigmented.
Not chalky or flaky and virtually no fallout! 💗

Cons: I honestly couldn't find one!

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: Yes

Final Thoughts: Gorgeous eyeshadow that is blendable and buildable with a soft velvet shimmer finish. I approve 👍

2. ILLAMASQUA: Hydra Veil Primer

Brand: Illamasqua
Product: Face Primer
Formula: Gel
Finish: Natural

Pros: This primer gives a nice sheer veil over the face to prep it for foundation. It is not sticky or greasy and the gel formula (it really is like Jell-O when it's in its container) leaves a natural matte finish.

Cons: Although it is a nice primer, I don't believe it is better than any other face primer I have used. With all the bright and exciting colors Illamasqua has, I was disappointed to receive a more basic product from them.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭑⭑⭑ (2 out of 3)
Would I Purchase: Unlikely

Final Thoughts: It is a decent face primer, but it is not better than others.

3. BENEFIT COSMETICS: BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara in Black

Brand: Benefit Cosmetics
Product: Mascara
Size: Mini
Name of Shade: Black
Color: Black
Waterproof: No (Cry-proof, Yes)
Formula: Volumizing
Wand Shape: Cone
Lasts for: 12+ Hours
Smudges/Flakes: Only in Water/No
Pros: Not only does this mascara give amazing volume, it also gives crazy length.
It catches every last lash, giving a super fanned-out, wide-eyed look.
It is also cry-proof, so bring on the tearjerker films 😭

Cons: Although it claims to be water resistant it is by no means waterproof 💧.
It can withstand some major tears without running, but if you plan on swimming or singing in the rain you will end up looking like a raccoon 🦝

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭑ (4 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: Yes

Final Thoughts
: Fantastic mascara that makes lashes look miles long and volume for a full lash effect. Only real drawback is that it is not waterproof.

4. GOLDFADEN MD: Vital Boost Even Skintone Daily Moisturizer

Brand: Goldfaden MD
Product: Moisturizer
Size: Mini
Formula: Cream/Gel

Pros: A really nice, light moisturizer. It has a ton of beneficial ingredients (red tea 🍵) and goes on smooth. It isn't too heavy and leaves skin feeling hydrated.

Cons: It's not much different than other moisturizers in its price range. I feel like I can get the same out of other moisturizers I already have.
But if you are in the market for a moisturizer, you should definitely give this one a shot.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭑⭑ (3 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: Maybe

Final Thoughts: A lovely moisturizer super packed with nutrients for your skin.

5. ROYAL & LANGNICKEL: CHIQUE RoseGold Blush Brush

Brand: Chique by Royal & Langnickel
Name of Brush: RoseGold Blush Brush
Feature for Brush: Blush
Feature I Use it for: Blush (apples of cheeks), setting powder (all over face)
Formula it Works Best with: Powder
Bristles Splay: No
Pros: This lovely brush by Chique, which is a sub brand of Royal & Langnickel, is soft and perfect for blending. It applies the perfect amount of blush to the cheeks to give a natural flush.
I have also used it with setting powder (obviously wash it in between uses or you'll look like a drunk clown 🤡) and gives nice coverage.
The pretty handle is a nice finishing touch to an expertly crafted tool.

Cons: Only con is that the bristles bend easily, so if you use it on-the-go and take it in and out of your makeup bag regularly there may be a little inconvenience.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭑ (4 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: Yes

Final Thoughts: An excellent blush brush that is soft and can have multiple uses.

And here are a couple looks I created with May's glam bag products:
