Ultima Beauty: ipsy | March 2020

Hi Beauties!

Wanted to post this a couple weeks ago but I had a tooth abscess and become infected which led to the right side of my face swelling up like Rocky during his last round with Creed, emergency oral surgery where they inserted a tube into my gums and sinus cavity to drain the infection, a root canal and drain removal all over the course of five days 🦷

There is never a good time to have a dental problem, but during a global pandemic makes it a bit worse.

But now I’m back, and with a review of the products in March’s ipsy glam bag!

Thoughts on March’s Glam Bag: Some very excellent products! And since it was ipsy’s 100^th glam bag they gave a sixth product to celebrate!

March’s bag is super adorable! It is such a pretty teal shade with gold studs embellishing the front!

Now for a review of the 6 products from March!

1. WANDER BEAUTY: Eyeshadow in Blossom

Brand: Wander Beauty

Product: Eyeshadow
Name of Shade: Blossom
Color: Peach-Pink
Finish: Shimmer
Formula: Pressed Powder
Fallout: No
Chalky/Flaky: No/No
Blendable: Yes
Lasts for: Approximately 12 Hours

Pros: This shade is super smooth and glides on lids like butter. It is incredibly blendable and can be layered for the desired effect.

A light dusting of shadow gives a sheer shimmer to eyes, or a couple layers gives a beautiful springtime pigment to lids. This eyeshadow lasts for many hours without creasing and has virtually no fallout.

Cons: I really haven’t noticed any drawbacks.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5)

Would I Purchase: Yes

Final Thoughts: A beautiful, peachy eyeshadow with rose gold shimmer that applies easily and is buildable in coverage. It lasts all day and doesn’t crease!

2. GIRLACTIK: Precise Marker Liner in Black Noir

Brand: Girlactik
Product: Eyeliner
Name of Shade: Black Noir
Color: Black
Finish: Matte
Formula: Liquid, Pen
Waterproof: Yes
Smudges/Streaks/Runs: No/No/No
Lasts for: 8+ Hours

Pros: This super black pigmented liquid liner goes on effortlessly thanks to the precision felt tip of the pen. The applicator narrows at the tip and increases in thickness towards the base of the pen giving you control over how thick or thin you want your line.

It’s perfect for everyday “no makeup” looks; just to define the lash line or, for more dramatic intense looks. It is also waterproof and lasts for hours.

Cons: Honestly, none.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: Yes

Final Thoughts: Long-lasting, waterproof, precision application and perfect for any type of makeup look you like to create from more natural to more adventurous.

3. SUGAR COSMETICS: Uptown Curl Lengthening Mascara in Black

Brand: Sugar Cosmetics

Product: Mascara
Size: Mini
Name of Shade: Black
Color: Black
Waterproof: Yes
Formula: Curling/Lengthening
Wand Shape: Curved
Smudges/Flakes: No/No
Lasts for: 12+ Hours

Pros: This awesome formula not only gives major length to lashes it also gives them a fun, flirty curl! I don’t typically curl my lashes, and I didn’t before using this mascara, but I ended up with the prettiest subtle curl to my lashes. The curved wand helps coat every last lash for a pretty fanned out effect. It is also waterproof and cry-proof and lasts for many, many hours.

Cons: Again, I haven’t noticed any flaws.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: Yes

Final Thoughts: A fantastic mascara that has multiple benefits, gives lashes length and curl without looking fake, and doesn’t run or flake throughout the day.

4. HANALEI COMPANY: Kukui Lip Balm in Island Mint

Brand: Hanalei Company

Product: Lip Balm
Name of Shade: Island Mint
Color: Transparent
Finish: Balm
Smudges/Drying: No/No
Last for: Approximately 3 Hours

Pros: This balm is smooth and moisturizing, it also has a refreshing mint scent.

Cons: No real complaints, however it is just like a typical lip balm.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭑⭑ (3 out of 5)

Would I Purchase: Probably Not.

Final Thoughts: A very nice lip balm with a tingling mint flavor/fragrance. There is nothing wrong with this lip balm, but if you already have a go-to balm, it’s probably pretty similar.

5. FOXYBAE: Replenishing Hair Mask

Brand: FOXYBAE
Product: Hair Mask
Size: Mini
Formula: Cream/Gel

Pros: A great gel-cream hair mask that helps repair damaged hair and moisturizes. It also has a pretty coconut-shea scent.

Cons: Although it is really nice, it is quite similar to other hair masks.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭑ (4 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: No (already have a favorite hair mask)

Final Thoughts: This is an excellent hair mask that does everything you would want it to: moisturizes, repairs, protects. If you are in the market for a new hair mask I would recommend giving this one a try.

6. COMPLEX CULTURE: Precision Eyelid Brush

Brand: Complex Culture

Name of Brush: Precision Eyelid
Feature for Brush: Lids
Feature I Use it for: Lids, Under Eyes
Formula it Works Best with: Powder, Liquid
Blends Makeup Well: Yes
Bristles Splay: None Yet

Pros: Super soft and smooth bristles that are perfect for color application and blending. Not only is it great for eyeshadow, the domed edge makes it great for applying liquid concealer under eyes.

Cons: So far I haven't noticed any bristle splaying or other brush problems.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5)
Would I Purchase: Yes

Final Thoughts: Fluffy, soft bristles that provide excellent color placement and blends shadow like a dream.
