Tarte | Maneater Nightfall | Eyeshadow Palette | Review & Tutorial

Hey Beautiful People!

October has flown by!
Now we’re getting into late fall and early winter makeup trends and products.
This time of year is ideal for deep metallics and pretty shimmers.
So, today I have a review and tutorial for you of a palette that you will want to add to your collection ASAP!

It’s Tarte Cosmetics Maneater Nightfall eyeshadow palette! 🐾

You can watch my video review & tutorial here

Review

I have used many Tarte products over the years, but this is my first Tarte eyeshadow purchase.
I was immediately drawn to the palette when I saw the variety of shades.
The box itself is mesmerizing πŸ˜€

The palette is good sized and has a sturdy plastic shell.
It’s a lovely purple shade with “Maneater” leopard print all over the cover.
It also contains a large mirror that makes on-the-go application a breeze.

Once you open the palette you are treated to a host of “shining, shimmering, splendid” (remember Aladdin?) eyeshadow shades and finishes.
I didn’t know where to start with so many gorgeous colors to choose from.
I felt like a kid in a candy shop (do candy shops still exist? 🍬)

It's nearly the size of a mini laptop, but it's also light weight and durable.
When closed this palette is sleek and easy to store.
When opened it becomes an eyeshadow wardrobe that will get you through any event.

A generous 24 eyeshadows fill this palette, with a shade range from neutral, everyday shades to intense deep colors for a night out.
There are 11 matte shades, 9 shimmer shades, 3 Luster shades, and 1 glitter shade.
Each one is unique and has the potential to give you a multi-dimensional eyeshadow appearance.

The pigments in these shadows are incredible!
The color payoff is unmatched.
For the shimmer/metallic shades one swipe of color gives you a super saturated foil effect.
The sparkle is unreal with minimal fallout.
8 of the shimmer shades have Tarte's signature Maneater leopard print embossed on them.

The matte shades are blendable and can be built to whatever shade intensity you desire.
The Amazonian clay infused pigments give these shadows unbelievable staying power.
I wore these eyeshadows for about 14-hours one day and when I went to remove my makeup, these shadows were still perfectly in place with no creasing or fading!

The glitter shade (Alpha) sparkles like a diamond and is an excellent party shade.
The sepia brown color gives you a low key smoky effect while still getting a hit of glam from the glitter. A true multi-tasker!

The luster shades have the most beautiful pearly finish that are enhanced even more when the light hits them just right.
Blending the luster shades is so fun because the pearl effect looks ethereal when swept across the eyes.

Tutorial

Again, you can catch my video tutorial here

1. Passionate Blend: Start with the shade Passionate (Matte Plum) and sweep that through the crease of the eye, building color.
Then use a blending brush to soften and diffuse the line.

2. Tease & Blend: Next take the shade Tease (Matte Umber Brown) on small eyeshadow brush and trace a thin line through the crease of the eye, in the middle of the smoked out Passionate shade.
Then take the blending brush again and soften the line made with Tease.
This is just to add extra dimension to the eye.

3. Don't Forget the Sizzle: With your index finger take the shade Sizzle (Light Bronze Shimmer) and swipe it across eyelids for a shimmering metallic effect.

4. Pounce + Eyeliner: Take the shade Pounce (Matte Off-White) on a medium eyeshadow brush and dust it across the brow bone.
Use a liquid liner to trace along the top lash line.
Then take a pencil liner and fill in lower water line of the eye.

5. After Dark + Fascinate, Mascara & Concealer: Use the shade After Dark (Matte Navy Blue) on a flat brush and trace it along the lower lash line.
On a pencil brush take the shade Fascinate (Champagne Shimmer) and dust that onto the inner corners of the eyes.
Add a volumizing or lifting mascara and swipe it on top and bottom lashes.
Use a concealer under eyes to clean up any fallout (there was barely any).

6. Finish with Face & Lips: To complete our Maneater Nightfall look add a contour shade and run it under cheek bones about halfway down cheeks.
Sweep a highlighter on the tops of the cheek bones and under eyes.
Dust a rosy blush on the apples of the cheeks.
Finally, take a matte coral lipstick and apply it to the lips.

This will complete...

Our Tarte Maneater Nightfall Eyeshadow look!

These shades are so crazy pigmented. I really love the effects, especially of the shimmers.
I went with a matte lip as to not over power the already sparkling eyeshadow.

There are such a variety of shades in this palette that there is definitely something to suit everyone's personality, compliment your skin tone, and bring out the color of your eyes.

A little example to show how incredible the staying power of these eyeshadows really is;
shortly after recording this tutorial I went to the driving range and hit golf balls for about an hour.
It was almost 80 degrees (record breaking for the end of October in New York), and when I got in the car I checked my eyeshadow and it was still perfectly intact!
No smudging, smearing, or creasing! Incredible eyeshadow!

Here are a couple other looks you can create with Tarte's Maneater Nightfall Palette

A more natural, everyday look using the shades Paws Off & Sly.

(Yes, I took a selfie with a poster of my favorite golfer, Viktor Hovland.
I have no regrets, it's as close as I'm getting to a real selfie with him lol πŸ˜…)

A bit more colorful look with the shades 9 Lives & Wild.

I got up at 2AM to watch the Ryder Cup in Italy, the whole pot of coffee was necessary 😊
